Why Choose Family Birth Center

Quality Care

Couplet care
To ensure quality care and effective communication among families, staff and physicians, our philosophy is that every mom and baby be cared for as a "couple." Every mom and baby "couple" is cared for by the same nurse during their stay at the Family Birth Center.

Best beginnings
At the Family Birth Center, we believe it is important for new babies to be with their families as much as possible, so we practice "best beginnings." Babies spend the majority of their first days rooming with mom and spending time with family.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Our team at the NICU offers state-of-the-art comprehensive level three neonatal intensive care that can be life saving for families facing the unexpected. We care for hundreds of premature infants and babies born with congenital abnormalities or long-term complications. With a reputation for innovation and excellence, we regularly accept babies from hospitals throughout mid-Missouri. Family Birth Center babies also have access to Children's Hospital physicians who provide care in more than 30 specialties including cardiology, surgery, oncology and orthopaedics.

High risk pregnancy
Having a baby is a joyous, exciting time. Most pregnancies proceed smoothly, but if you and your baby need specialized care, our maternal-fetal medicine staff can provide the very best care from the very beginning. Using the latest technology in a caring environment, the skilled physicians and nurses provide comprehensive obstetrical services including prenatal diagnostic testing, genetic counseling, targeted ultrasound as well as high-risk pregnancy management and consultation.

24 hour in-house anesthesia
The Family Birth Center is the only birthing facility in mid-Missouri that has an anesthesiologist in-house 24/7, so whether you arrive during the day or night, you can have access to pain management as soon as requested.

Fertility services
A number of women need extra help getting pregnant. Our reproductive medicine and fertility team is fully equipped to assist families from simple ovulation induction to IVF treatments.

Room service
Our award winning food services staff provides delicious meals and snacks for you on request from a select menu. Family members may also order room service meals while visiting for a fee.

Concierge service
Our hospitality coordinators can assist you by helping orient you to the hospital, explaining hospital services and visiting you frequently to make sure your needs are being met.

Free Wi-Fi
Bring a laptop and share your good news with family and friends via the web on our Wi-Fi network.

All private rooms
Every room includes its own temperature control and bath as well as a daybed for an overnight guest, TV, DVD player as well as ample closet and drawer space. You may choose a rooming-in option for your baby or you may wish your baby to be cared for by our highly skilled, caring nurses in the nursery right down the hall from your room. While older siblings are encouraged to be part of the experience, they are not allowed to spend the night at the Family Birth Center.

Our state-of-the-art security system ensures that our babies are where they should be at all times. The post-partum floor, including the nursery, is secured 24 hours, 7 days per week.
