Many families in mid-Missouri are preparing to go back to school. Whether learning takes place online or in a classroom this year, a local pediatrician hopes parents will make good nutrition part of those plans.
Julie Benard, MD, a pediatrician at MU Health Care and an expert in weight management, says it’s important for kids to maintain a routine, regardless of whether they go to school virtually or in person.
“We want them to be keeping up with good bedtime routines, and we want them to be waking up at about the same time that they would for school,” Benard said. “That also means that we want them to be eating at about the same time they would during their school day.”
