On Oct. 6, 2014, the Drug Enforcement Administration reclassified all hydrocodone combination products as Schedule II controlled substances in all 50 states. Commonly known under brand names such as Vicodin, Norco and Lortab, these products contain hydrocodone. Under the new drug classification, prescriptions for these medications must be presented at a pharmacy on an original prescription with an original signature. The prescriptions may not be called in. Prescriptions are void after 90 days. According to Missouri law, existing refills for these drugs are now void and must be reissued to be filled at a pharmacy.
