Learning to live with a neurological condition can be challenging. The experienced physical, occupational and speech therapists at Mizzou Therapy Services can help guide you through treatment to recover from an injury or lessen the symptoms of a neurological condition, including:
What specialized technology or treatments do you offer?
Integrated Therapy System
Our therapists use the latest technology, including an integrated therapy system. Shown above, this device is an interactive touch screen with 16 programs. It can help patients improve visual attention, visual memory, reaction time, motor planning, hand-eye coordination, dynamic standing balance, standing endurance and more. Our therapists can measure each patient’s progress over time to customize your therapy sessions, making the most of your time and meeting your specific needs.
Gait and Safety System
Using dynamic body weight support equipment, patients who are not able to support their body weight on their own can experience success in sit-to-stand exercises, balance training and practicing activities of daily living. Your therapist may recommend this technology if you are recovering from a stroke, adjusting to life after an amputation or if you experienced brain or spinal cord injuries.
This innovative over-ground gait and safety system is designed to promote faster recovery to get you home sooner and provide a safe way to exercise.
LSVT for Parkinson’s Disease
The Mizzou Therapy Services staff uses Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT). Occupational and physical therapists use LSVT Big to promote high amplitude movements in people with Parkinson’s disease. LSVT Loud is used by speech and language pathologists to facilitate awareness of vocal intensity in people with Parkinson’s disease.
