  • Shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, ankle and foot problems
  • Recovery after surgery
  • Neurologic diagnosis such as: stroke, brain injury, or spinal cord injury

Inpatient Information

Physical Therapists are experts in regaining mobility, movement, balance and lower extremity strength which can become impaired when hospitalized. They specialize in four of the body’s major systems:

  • Musculoskeletal
  • Neuromuscular
  • Cardiovascular/Pulmonary
  • Integumentary (Skin)

As part of University Hospital and Missouri Orthopaedic Institute we have Physical Therapist that specialize to provide care to a variety of medical services including trauma, orthopedic, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, family practice, general medicine, oncology and burn/wounds. Physical Therapists work closely with other members of the medical care team to restore and progress mobility and motion so patients function at their best potential. They have a good understanding of the match between the patient’s needs, abilities, and environment, which assists the patient’s successful transition to the home, community, or next level of care.
