About

Rachel Bronheim, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who focuses on surgical treatment of spine conditions. She offers care for a range of conditions, including disc herniations, degenerative spine conditions, spine fractures and spinal deformity. Dr. Bronheim offers a full spectrum of treatment options to tailor care to each patient’s needs, from fusions and open surgeries to robot-assisted spine surgery, disc replacement surgery and minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery.

Dr. Bronheim chose to become a physician because it combines her passions for patient care, advocacy, research and teaching. She values being able to diagnose a problem, create a treatment plan with each patient and help them get back to what they love. Her care philosophy focuses on providing advice and support to each patient as if they were a member of her own family and empowering patients to make active decisions in their care.

Dr. Bronheim and her wife, Nicole, have a French bulldog named Dobby at home. Her hobbies include spending time with family, cycling, photography and board games.

Research Profile

Rachel Bronheim, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon. She offers surgical care for degenerative spine and disc diseases as well as spinal fractures and deformities.

As a researcher, Dr. Bronheim developed and validated tools for deep learning in intraoperative imaging. This work focused on using machine learning to avoid wrong-level surgery and expanded it to evaluate spinal alignment globally to allow surgeons to assess spinal correction in real time. Related investigations have focused on evaluating surgical simulation and augmented surgical tools to improve technical training and operative precision. She is interested in incorporating emerging technologies and minimally invasive techniques to improve the safety, accuracy and long-term outcomes in spine surgery. Dr. Bronheim is also interested in surgical outcomes and health services research related to spine surgery, including perioperative risk stratification, social determinants of health and psychological factors in spine surgery recovery.
