About
Ahmed Abbas, MD, is a board-certified neurologist who treats a range of conditions, including multiple sclerosis and persistent headaches. He has fellowship training to offer specialist care for multiple sclerosis and other immune-mediated conditions of the nervous systems, such as neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD).
Dr. Abbas is passionate about lifelong learning and helping others — a combination that led him to a fulfilling career as a neurologist. He feels it is a privilege for him to make a difference in the lives of others every day and build long-term trusting relationships with his patients. From that foundation, Dr. Abbas can better understand their individual needs and goals and work with each patient to create individualized care plans that manage chronic symptoms and improve each person’s quality of life.
In his spare time, Dr. Abbas enjoys reading autobiographies and watching soccer, particularly Arsenal. He and his wife, oncologist Hamsa Sahib, MD, have two young daughters and enjoy spending time together as a family.
His research efforts include studying the effect of body weight on B-cell repopulation in people with multiple sclerosis undergoing B-cell depleting therapy. Dr. Abbas's work explores how weight may influence immune reconstitution and the potential implications for clinical outcomes and treatment optimization.
