About

Benjamin Coe, FNP-BC, PhD, DNP, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who brings a wealth of trauma, emergency and pediatric care from 14 years as a nurse to his practice. He now provides care in the emergency setting and sees patients with conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, endocrine disorders and heightened fall risk.

Benjamin has been with MU Health Care for more than 25 years, starting as a volunteer, and chose to become a nurse practitioner to expand his abilities to provide great care to his patients. His care style is to hear his patients, not just listen, to understand the “why” behind their visit and partner with them to create evidence-based care plans.

As part of his nursing PhD program, Benjamin researched high blood pressure and was selected to be a Jonas Research Fellow, traveling to the Dominican Republic to study interventions for improved compliance with hypertension medications.

In his personal time, Benjamin is involved in Scouting America and is a volunteer firefighter, captain and station manager with the Boone County Fire Protection District. He serves as an emergency and trauma nurse in the Air Force Reserve and directs the trauma care education programs for a 1,200-person airlift wing. At home, Benjamin enjoys life with his two dogs, cat and saltwater reef tank.
