About
Bogdan Panaitescu, MD, PhD, is a board-certified obstetrics, gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine physician who has added fellowship training to provide complete care for mothers and their babies during medically complex pregnancies. He cares for women who are diagnosed with preeclampsia, diabetes, heart conditions, kidney conditions and infectious diseases during pregnancy. Dr. Panaitescu provides specialist care for twins, triplets and other multiple gestations; preterm births, including preterm premature rupture of the amniotic sac membrane (PPROM); and uses fetal ultrasound and other tests to provide prenatal diagnoses to families.
Dr. Panaitescu chose to become a doctor because he wanted to use his love of science and problem-solving to make a meaningful difference for people during the most vulnerable times in their lives. Seeing the positive impact medical intervention during pregnancy could have on a family led him to OBGYN and maternal-fetal medicine. By tailoring care to each family, Dr. Panaitescu considers the needs of both mother and baby to ensure the family feels heard, supported and actively involved in decisions.
Dr. Panaitescu and his wife have a pug, who keeps the family entertained, and they love spending time together at local parks and cultural sites. His hobbies include reading, traveling and discovering new cuisines, and staying active.

Research Profile
Bogdan Panaitescu, MD, PhD, is an OBGYN and maternal-fetal medicine expert with a clinical and research focus on high-risk and medically complex pregnancies, including diabetes; preeclampsia; cardiac, renal and infectious disease conditions during pregnancy; preterm and PPROM pregnancies and multiple gestations.
Dr. Panaitescu is excited to join a collaborative academic health system where he can contribute to patient care, education and research. His research projects include a proteomic and transcriptomic study analyzing sex-specific immune responses in pregnancies complicated by viral infection.
