Research Profile

Meelie Bordoloi, MD, is an adult, child and adolescent psychiatrist and associate professor who focuses on advancing evidence-based care for individuals with complex psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders, with particular emphasis on autism spectrum disorder (ASD), pediatric psychopharmacology, patient safety and innovative biologic treatments in psychiatry. Through peer-reviewed publications, she has contributed to research examining psychiatric comorbidities, treatment approaches and challenges related to the diagnosis and treatment of ASD and related neurodevelopmental disorders.

Dr. Bordoloi’s research work and expertise was recognized in her sole authorship of the chapter on ASD in Conn’s Current Therapy 2025 (Elsevier), a widely used clinical reference for practicing physicians. Her scholarly work has also included research in interventional psychiatry and psychopharmacology, contributing to publications exploring transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and other neuromodulation-based treatments for refractory psychiatric disorders. In parallel, Dr. Bordoloi has led quality improvement and patient safety research within the child psychiatry inpatient unit, examining patterns of restrictive interventions, safety events and systems-level opportunities to improve care delivery for high-acuity pediatric populations.

Collectively, Dr. Bordoloi’s scholarship reflects a commitment to translational, clinically meaningful research aimed at improving psychiatric care delivery, advancing therapeutic innovation and strengthening outcomes for vulnerable children and adolescents with complex mental health needs.
