Research Profile
Tyler Severance, MD, is a board-certified pediatric hematologist-oncologist at MU Health Care, where he provides specialized care for children and adolescents with blood and cancer disorders.
Dr. Severance’s clinical expertise includes the diagnosis and treatment of leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumors, brain tumors, anemia, sickle cell disease, hemophilia, hemoglobinopathies and clotting disorders.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Severance serves as an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. His research interests focus on global health, particularly improving access to and quality of care for children with blood disorders in medically underserved communities. Although his international work has been focused on Kenya, he is interested in expanding his work across Africa.
Dr. Severance earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College, completed a pediatric residency at Indiana University School of Medicine and then completed a fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology, also at Indiana University School of Medicine. He also earned a master’s in adult education from Indiana University School of Education. Dr. Severance is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in both pediatrics and pediatric hematology-oncology.
