About

Andrew Youkilis, MD, is a neurosurgeon with more than 20 years of practice in the state of Missouri. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Youkilis specializes in treating disorders of the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system including brain tumors, deep brain stimulation for the treatment of Parkinson's disease and essential tremor, traumatic and degenerative conditions of the spine, including disc herniations and stenosis, as well as decompression and instrumentation of surgical pathologies. He also has a focus in spinal deformity, scoliosis and peripheral nerve disorders.

Dr. Youkilis has a strong clinical focus in the treatment of peripheral nerve abnormalities such as carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar neuropathy, spinal cord tumors and peripheral nerve abnormalities. He also has extensive experience in stereotaxis (image guidance) for the treatment of both brain and spine pathologies. He has expertise in minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of brain and spine disorders.

Outside the hospital, Dr. Youkilis is a former Coast Guard certified captain, stationed on the Great Lakes, and is fluent in Italian and Croatian. His wife is a teaching professor of Italian at Washington University in St. Louis. He has three grown sons, ages 23 through 27. He enjoys cycling, skiing and hiking with his family and their six-year-old black Labrador retriever, Lucy.
