The Missouri Orthopaedic Institute is central Missouri's largest freestanding orthopaedic center, as well as the region's most comprehensive orthopaedic surgery center. The Institute's expert orthopaedic surgeons, nurses, rehabilitation staff and other health professionals offer patients a full range of care in a single location.

To meet growing patient needs, University of Missouri Health Care unveiled a $40 million, four-story expansion of the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute in 2017. The expansion increases clinical space for surgical, inpatient, outpatient and physical therapy services from approximately 114,000 to almost 200,000 square feet. The fourth floor of the new addition will be dedicated space for research.
The building currently houses approximately 400 staff members and more than 30 physicians who specialize in sports medicine, pediatrics, orthopaedic oncology, general orthopaedics, hip and knee, foot and ankle, shoulder and elbow, hand and wrist, spine and trauma care. The institute provides space for inpatient surgeries, outpatient procedures and various University of Missouri Health Care orthopaedic clinics.
The institute was designed and built with the needs of orthopaedic patients as its central focus. It features convenient access for patients with wheelchairs and crutches, and patient rooms designed for efficient orthopaedic care.
The institute includes:
- Approximately 60 clinic exam rooms
- Nine operating rooms
- 40 private inpatient rooms plus additional shelled space for additional patient rooms
- Radiology, with X-ray and MRI capabilities
- Rehabilitation services
- Prosthetic and orthotic services
- Casting services
