H. Mike Kim, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in shoulder and elbow surgery. He is an active researcher who focuses on staying up to date with the latest treatment methods in order to deliver the best solutions for his patients. In June 2020, Dr. Kim was elected to join the ranks of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES). Membership in ASES is a privilege and an honor awarded only to experienced orthopaedic surgeons who concentrate on shoulder and elbow surgery.

Research Profile

Dr. Kim is an active researcher in both clinical and basic science. His main research interests are biomechanics of shoulder replacement, prosthetic shoulder joint infection, and rotator cuff muscle fatty atrophy. He was one of the recipients of the prestigious Neer Award in 2009, which is awarded to the best basic and clinical research papers of the year. Dr. Kim was awarded multiple research grants including OREF/ASES/Rockwood shoulder clinical research grant and OREF Young Investigator grant. He has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed scientific articles and presented his research in numerous national and international meetings. He serves Editorial Review board of Journal of Orthopaedic Research and serves as Associate editor of Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery Open Access and Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Arthroplasty. He also serves as a reviewer for Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Journal of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. He is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Society and is actively involved in multiple research initiatives of the Society.
