Ellis Fischel is one of just six breast centers accredited in Missouri and the only one in central Missouri

University of Missouri Health Care’s Ellis Fischel Cancer Center has been reaccredited by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), reaffirming its position as a regional leader in comprehensive breast care. The designation is awarded after a rigorous evaluation and is valid for three years.

Ellis Fischel has maintained this prestigious accreditation for more than a decade, reflecting a sustained commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to patients across mid-Missouri.  It is one of just six ACS accredited centers in Missouri and the only one located in central Missouri.

NAPBC-accredited programs follow a nationally recognized model that requires coordinated, multidisciplinary care and continuous quality improvement. The program evaluates every stage of a patient’s experience, including prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. This approach ensures patients have access to seamless, individualized care grounded in the latest scientific evidence.

“This reaccreditation sends a powerful message to our patients and community,” said Dr. Gerhard Hildebrandt, director of Ellis Fischel Cancer Center.  “For more than 10 years, we have met and exceeded national standards for breast care. Our team remains focused on delivering the highest level of care close to home.”

At Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, breast care is delivered through a collaborative team of experts that includes surgical, medical and radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, plastic surgeons and supportive care specialists. This integrated model allows patients to receive comprehensive treatment plans tailored to their unique needs.
