Leaders from MU Health Care and the Boonville community broke ground today on a new multi-specialty clinic that will improve access to medical care in Cooper County and is set to open in summer 2022.

“This new facility will provide those living in and around Boonville easier access to high-quality medical care, affirming MU Health Care’s mission to save and improve lives,” said Jonathan Curtright, MU Health Care’s chief executive officer. “We are so thankful for our community collaborators who have partnered with us to create a sustainable model of health care for the people of Cooper County.”

The 14,000 square-foot Jackson Road Medical Building will feature an urgent care with extended hours, primary care providers, specialty services, imaging, a lab and physical therapy services. The facility will be located at 516 Jackson Road across from Walmart. Central States Construction is building the facility for MU Health Care to lease.

“There’s simply no substitute for being able to access quality health care in your local community,” said Jack Cardetti, spokesman for Central States Construction. “We are thrilled to be building this medical facility for MU Health Care, which will strengthen Mid-Missouri by improving the health of Cooper County families.”

When Pinnacle Regional Hospital closed in February 2020, MU Health Care joined with Boonville and Cooper County leaders to find both immediate and long-term health care options for the community.

“The ongoing collaboration between the Boonslick Economic Development Corporation, MU Health Care and the citizens of Cooper County has guided the services that will be offered in this new facility,” said Gigi Quinlan McAreavy, Director of Economic Development for Boonville and Cooper County. “This new multi-specialty clinic is a big step forward in the effort to address our community’s needs.”

The groundbreaking comes 14 months after MU Health Care opened its eighth family medicine clinic at 102 Isle of Capri Blvd. in Boonville with providers the community already knows and trusts.

The MU Health Care Family Medicine Clinic in Boonville features former Pinnacle Regional Hospital family doctors Mona Brownfield, MD, Robert Koch, MD, and nurse practitioner Lori Weekly, FNP. Mizzou Therapy Services also has a location in Boonville with former Pinnacle Regional Hospital physical therapist Jennifer Hackman, and there are outreach services for sports medicine and nephrology in Boonville. These providers will move to the new multi-specialty clinic when completed. Additional services and providers are expected to follow.

“Not only will our new facility offer care for the entire family, but we will be able to connect patients with more than 600 MU Health Care doctors in more than 80 specialties working together to ensure our patients get the best care possible,” said Brownfield.
