February 1, 2021

Editor's note Tuesday, Feb 2: The 4,000 doses will be administered Thursday, Feb. 4, and Saturday, Feb. 6. There will be no vaccinations on Friday, Feb. 5. The below text has been updated to reflect this change.

MU Health Care expects a delivery of 4,000 doses of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine this week and will open up the same number of appointment slots at the Walsworth Family Columns Club vaccination site at MU’s football stadium.

The state of Missouri designated MU Health Care as one of three vaccination sites in the region to receive a vaccine allocation intended to provide high-volume community vaccinations. This week’s appointments will be scheduled between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, and Saturday, Feb. 6. Invitations are expected to go out tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 2, via email or phone, depending on the contact information provided.

Because vaccine demand is far outpacing supply, MU Health Care is using an online survey at muhealth.org to determine interest and eligibility for vaccination. The survey is open to anyone in the community, not just MU Health Care patients.

Appointment invites for this week will be sent to those who filled out the survey and self-identified as meeting eligibility criteria for Phase 1B Tier 2. Those who receive an appointment invitation will need to attest to their eligibility during the scheduling process, and MU Health Care staff will check photo identification during registration.

“We are excited to serve the state of Missouri to offer 4,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine to high-risk individuals this week,” said Stevan Whitt, MD, MU Health Care Chief Clinical Officer. “Our vaccination site at the football stadium provides an efficient, convenient and safe way for the public to receive the vaccine. We are honored to play a key role in the state’s public vaccination effort moving forward.”

MU Health Care expects a similar allocation of vaccine the week of Feb. 15, and appointment invites will be sent to survey respondents upon shipment confirmation from the state of Missouri. MU Health Care is following the state of Missouri’s COVID-19 vaccination distribution plan, which outlines phases of availability. The state currently is allowing vaccination through Phase 1B Tier 2.

People arriving for vaccination will enter on the east side of the football stadium at 600 E. Stadium Blvd. Signage and parking attendants will provide direction to the appropriate parking lot and entrance to access the vaccination site. Detailed instructions will be provided to people who schedule an appointment.

MU Health Care has launched an online survey at muhealth.org/form/covid-vaccine-survey, where people can sign up to be notified when COVID-19 vaccine will be available to them. It’s available for patients and non-patients. People only need to fill out the form once to be notified of appointment availability. Those who have questions or need help filling out the form can call our COVID-19 vaccine call center at 573-771-CARE (2273). The call center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

MU Health Care is honored to offer COVID-19 vaccination to the community, and we are committed to continuing to cooperate with local and regional health care organizations to ensure we can vaccinate as many people in the region as quickly as possible.
