MU Health Care is easing restrictions on visitors for many of its care environments. Visitors will be required to wear face coverings and are encouraged to bring their own from home.

Effective immediately, patients who are staying overnight at MU Health Care hospitals, emergency room patients or those undergoing same-day procedures will be allowed to designate one person at registration who will be allowed to accompany the patient. Two visitors will be allowed for pediatric patients, childbirth and end-of-life circumstances.

Those who are registered as visitors will receive either a wrist band or name badge and will be permitted to visit during the following hours:

  • 1 to 4 p.m. (University Hospital, Missouri Orthopaedic Institute)
  • 4 to 8 p.m. (Missouri Psychiatric Center)

No visitors younger than 16 will be permitted at University Hospital or Missouri Orthopaedic Institute. We will continue using Zoom and FaceTime to help patients connect with loved ones who cannot be present in person.

MU Health Care’s freestanding clinics, such as Family Medicine and Urgent Care locations, will maintain the current no visitor policy to ensure proper social distancing in waiting and exam rooms.
