MU Health Care and School of Medicine have hired former Pinnacle Regional Hospital family medicine doctors Mona L. Brownfield, MD, Robert H. Koch, MD, and family nurse practitioner Lori Weekley. MU Health Care is working quickly to secure clinic space so patients can continue to see the providers in Boonville.

“MU Health Care is committed to working closely with the citizens of Cooper County to ensure access to excellent health care now and into the future,” said Jonathan Curtright, MU Health Care chief executive officer. “We are pleased these providers are joining our team. They bring a wealth of knowledge in caring for families at all stages of life as well as a deep commitment to the people of Cooper County.”

Until a clinic location in Boonville is identified and prepared, the providers will see patients at MU Health Care’s Family Medicine clinic in Fayette. A date for when the providers will begin to see patients will be set after the providers’ onboarding with MU Health Care is complete. More details about how to schedule appointments with the providers will be available in the coming weeks.

“The partnership with our health care providers and MU Health Care brings to this community stability, excitement and trust,” said Gigi Quinlan McAreavy, economic developer for Boonville and Cooper County. “We are aligning with an establishment that is forward-thinking, creative and have already learned to overcome obstacles. We are looking forward and not back – ready to see what this partnership can bring our community.”

In addition to the family medicine providers, MU Health Care also hired Jennifer Hackman, a physical therapist who previously saw patients at Pinnacle Regional Hospital. Hackman already is seeing patients at Mizzou Therapy Services in Boonville.

These hires are part of a larger collaboration between MU Health Care and community leaders in Boonville and Cooper County to develop short- and long-term solutions to meet the local health care needs of Cooper County residents.

“MU Health Care is committed working with Boonville and Cooper County residents and leaders to ensure their perspectives are included as we evaluate options for health care delivery in Cooper County,” Curtright said. “We plan to work closely with these stakeholders to make sure our path forward results in a sustainable solution to maintain local access to high-quality care.”
