Testing and Evaluation

Before treatment begins, we use a range of diagnostic tools to better understand your skin condition and guide next steps, including:

  • Dermoscopy: Assesses moles or lesions before biopsy.
  • KOH prep and rapid point of care tests: Check for fungal infections.
  • Patch testing: Identifies skin allergies that may be causing rashes or itching.
  • Skin biopsies: Help diagnose rashes, cancer or other skin conditions.

Procedures and Treatments

We offer a wide range of dermatology treatments and procedures, from medical therapies to advanced surgical care, including:

  • Laser treatments, including vascular lasers, Nd:YAG for tattoos or pigment, hair-removal lasers and a new Fraxel® resurfacing option.
  • Medical therapy, including prescription topical and oral medications.

If you’d like to schedule a dermatology appointment with MU Health Care, please note that some insurance plans require a referral from your primary care provider.

Referring providers can send referrals and pathology directly to our clinic. We’ll review your records and schedule you at the most appropriate location.
