A candidate must meet the following requirements:

- Have a parent or guardian grant permission and sign forms for individuals under age 18
- Present a Photo ID to obtain your temporary shadowing badge
- Have an ID badge before shadowing
Note: The program limits shadowing to 16 hours per year. The hours reset January 1 of each year.

If you’re interested in shadowing a nurse, please also download Document 5: Nurse Choices. Review and contact the unit(s) in which you are interested.
Select your area of interest (See Document 4, the Guidelines Letter)
Contact the area in which you’re interested in shadowing to schedule a date and time. Enter all dates and times on the Application (Form 2). If you do not see your area of interest, please email MUHC Shadow Program for assistance.
Obtain your ID badge
Once you set up a shadow date, send an email to MUHC Shadow Program to request a date and time to bring in your application and get your ID badge. Badges cannot be picked up sooner than 48 hours before your shadow date. Badges for Monday shadow events can only be picked up on that Monday. Badges are made from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You must wear your ID badge when you job shadow.
Complete the preceptor form
Bring your Preceptor Form (Form 3) to your shadow event. Make sure you have the person you are shadowing (the preceptor) confirm the date and hours on the form and sign the document. Instructions for returning the form to University Hospital's shadow program office are on the document. You must complete and return a signed form for each shadow event to participate in future shadow events.
MU students should park in their normal permitted area. If you are an MU student without a permit, you will need to go online and purchase a normal student permit. Current MU students are not allowed to purchase permits as a visitor.
Non-students will need to go online to the parking website site and purchase a permit. They may also use meters on campus.
The best link to do this will be https://parking.missouri.edu/parking/html/visitor. Click on Tiger Park Portal and create a visitor account. Also, visitors may stop in the parking office and purchase a day permit. For further questions about parking, please email email@example.com or call MU Parking & Transportation at (573) 882-4568.
