Very little is known about whether the COVID-19 vaccines are more effective during pregnancy or after delivery. We are conducting this study to learn more about the immune response to the COVID-19 vaccine in pregnant and breastfeeding mothers and their infants.
For study this, we are recruiting women who have already received the COVID-19 vaccine during pregnancy, or plan to receive the vaccine (either during pregnancy or within three months after delivery). We are especially interested in mothers who intend to feed their infants breastmilk.
Who we need
- Pregnant and postpartum women who intend to breastfeed
- Postpartum women who have delivered within the past three months
- Women aged 18-50 years
- Women in the mid-Missouri area
What we are asking of you
- Blood samples from mother
- Blood samples from infant
- Samples of breastmilk
- Samples to be collected over the course of 12 months
You will receive $20 for each sample that you or your infant give at our clinic or hospital laboratories. The total amount that you could receive is $540.
Blood draws on you and your newborn will be performed for research. There is a minimal risk of localized pain, infection and other complications from drawing your blood.
