Our Approach to Women’s Health Care

Prioritizing your own health can be challenging. Our women’s health specialists work with you to understand your unique needs and concerns and build treatment plans to help meet your goals and stay on top of your health.

Women’s health covers more than just pregnancy and childbirth. It also includes common and complex gynecologic conditions, preventive screenings, menopause and more.

At MU Health Care, you’ll have access to providers with advanced training and expertise in all areas of women’s health.

Personalized Women’s Health Care

Our goal is to help you live without pain, discomfort or uncertainty when it comes to your health. For everyday women’s health care, our obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) team will be your partner at every age. They’ll offer you:

  • Well-woman annual visits to manage your overall health and as address reproductive concerns and questions
  • Preventive screenings for cervical cancer, HPV, other sexually transmitted infections (STI) and more
  • Family planning and contraception, including birth control pills and intrauterine device (IUD) placement
  • Prenatal care including counseling, screening and pregnancy care
  • Referrals to specialists when needed

You’ll also have access to other specialized women’s health care, including:

Why Choose MU Health Care for Women’s Health Care

Leading-Edge Women’s Health Care

As one of the region’s few academic health systems, we offer specialized women’s health care backed by research and innovation. Our women’s health team leads and participates in clinical trials looking at new ways to treat common and complex conditions. This means you may have access to treatments not yet widely available.

Personalized Care for Personal Problems

We know your health is personal. That’s why we’re dedicated to making sure your care is tailored to your personal needs. Our women’s health specialists take the time to get to know you, discussing your concerns, goals and preferences. From there, they’ll work with you — and sometimes other women’s health specialists — to come up with a care plan together.

Expertise in Minimally Invasive Surgery

Surgery can be one of the most effective ways to treat certain women’s health conditions, like endometriosis or fibroids. But gynecologic procedures like hysterectomy and myomectomy can be major surgeries with difficult recoveries. However, MU Health Care has the only minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS) certified doctors in the region, offering less intensive surgical options whenever possible. This approach offers you faster recovery, less pain and lower risk for complications.

Labor and Delivery Tailored to You

Planning for your labor and delivery can be both exciting and overwhelming. Your pregnancy care provider will work with you to determine the right birth plan for you. Our state-of-the-art Birthing Centers can accommodate your preferences, from pain management to natural birth support. Our team emphasizes choices and helps you feel confident and ready for your baby’s arrival.
