University Hospital offers the only Level I trauma center and helicopter service in central Missouri. Physicians throughout the state refer many of their most complicated cases to our flagship hospital. The 390-bed hospital specializes in treating the most severe illnesses and injuries. Its seven-story Critical Care Tower provides the latest in medical technology for critically ill or injured patients.
Housed in University Hospital's Critical Care Tower are cardiac, medical, neurological, surgical and burn intensive care units. The hospital has the region’s most comprehensive center for wound care and hyperbaric medicine. Trauma specialists at University Hospital help treat more than 25,000 emergency room patients each year.
University Hospital also contains the region’s only cochlear implant center, a diabetes center, an ophthalmology institute, a sleep disorders center, an endoscopy center, endo-suites dedicated to minimally invasive surgery and a SameDay Surgery Center that offers hundreds of different procedures in its fully equipped operating rooms.

Facilities & Amenities
Patients and visitors to University Hospital may park free of charge in the four-level visitor parking garage at the intersection of Hospital and Monk drives, next to the hospital. If the Patient and Visitor Parking Garage is full, you may be directed to a surface lot located south of the hospital. Please contact Guest Relations at 573-882-1053 if you receive a parking ticket in error.
University of Missouri Health Care is pleased to offer valet parking to our patients and visitors. The free service is available at University Hospital’s main entrance from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Located in the lobby on University Hospital’s first floor, the Mizzou Pharmacy-University Hospital is a full-service retail pharmacy offering over-the-counter medication and prescription drugs.
University Hospital features two dining options for patients and visitors: Essentials, located in the lobby by the Green elevators, and The Grille, located on the west end of the hospital on the ground floor.
FOOD & DINING
MU Health Care offers modified room service at our hospitals, which includes made-to-order, freshly prepared food between 6:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily. Once the patient’s diet order has been received from the doctor, the appropriate menu and instructions on how to order will be provided.
For your convenience, there are three ATMs representing different banking options located in the University Hospital. The Landmark Bank machine is located in the lobby between Lakota Coffee and Mizzou Pharmacy. The Central Bank of Boone County has an ATM in the main hallway outside of the Security Office. Members of the Mizzou Credit Union may use the Credit Union exchange (CUE) machine that is across from the physician lounge in the hallway leading to the CS&E building. If you need any help finding an ATM, please speak to somebody at our information desk, and we would be happy to assist.
A special beeper service is available for visitors who are waiting to hear about patients who are in surgery. Please inquire at the Information Desk in the main lobby.
Hospital volunteers provide a cart stocked with complimentary books and magazines for your reading pleasure. If you would like to have the cart stop by your room, please ask your nurse to call Volunteer Services.
