  • Medications and other pharmacy services, including steroid, viscosupplementation and PRP injections

Walk in Without the Wait

Our Sports Medicine Injury Clinics are open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. You will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. 

The Columbia clinic is also open on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. during the fall sports season. Here, young athletes injured during Friday night games can receive care without having to wait until Monday.

Please note: Our Sports Medicine Injury Clinics do not see work-related or “workers' compensation” injuries. Those can be seen at our Occupational Medicine Clinics in Columbia and Jefferson City.

Where is the clinic located?

We have two locations. Our Columbia Sports Medicine Injury Clinic is on the second floor of the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute (1100 Virginia Ave., Columbia, MO). Please check in at the front desk near the second-floor main entrance. 

The Jefferson City Sports Medicine Injury Clinic is on the second floor of the Madison Street Medical Building (1125 Madison St., Jefferson City, MO). Please check in at the desk on the second floor.

What is the special clinic for middle and high school athletes?

During the fall sports season, our Sports Medicine Injury Clinic in Columbia offers Saturday morning walk-in hours, specifically designed with young athletes who are injured during Friday night sports in mind. The clinic is open 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and is staffed by a sports medicine physician. No appointment is needed.

Do I need to call ahead of my arrival?

There’s no need to call before you come to the clinic, and no appointment is needed. Please bring any X-rays or information about your injury with you to the clinic.

What types of injuries does the clinic treat?

Our sports medicine team treats injuries that have occurred within the past seven days. Examples include broken bones, concussions, muscle strains, ligament sprains and tears and other sports injuries.

What are the costs associated with the visit?

We accept insurance for services provided through the Sports Medicine Injury Clinic. Your insurance copay will be the same as any other orthopaedic visit or specialist appointment. You may be billed for imaging, casting or bracing. 

If you are uninsured, self-pay options are available.

Do I need to bring insurance information?

Please bring your insurance card. The list of insurance plans accepted by MU Health Care can be found here.

Will there be a wait time?

Wait time depends on the volume of patients visiting the clinic. Anyone who arrives between 7 and 8 a.m. will be seen, even if wait times extend beyond 8 a.m.

What if I haven’t been seen within the 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. timeframe?

If you arrive by 8 a.m., you will be seen by our team that day. If you arrive after 8 a.m., you will be scheduled for the next available appointment.

If I am rescheduled for an appointment, will there be different fees associated with that appointment?

No, you will be charged for services provided through the Sports Medicine Injury Clinic. If you are referred to another specialist, you may be charged additional fees.
